FAQs
Where do we do the lesson?
We do our lessons at the perfect spot for both beginners and more experienced surfers, the Rodanthe Public Beach Access. This spot is not only perfect for those who take the lesson but perfect for any spectators as well! This location has a gazebo with a bench that provides a nice shady spot to relax and watch your family catch some waves! If necessary, we may adjust the location of our surf spot. The ocean is a constantly changing entity with shifting sandbars. The Rodanthe Public Beach Access is a consistently reliable sand bar, but sometimes we move locations to find you the best waves!
How long is the lesson?
All lessons are 90-minutes long. We spend 20-30 minutes on the beach going over safety and pop-up practice. The rest of the lesson takes place in the water where you will catch more waves than you can imagine!
What is your cancellation policy?
We require 24 hours notice for any cancellations. Any cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance will be charged the full price of the lesson.
What do I need to bring to the lesson?
Please bring plenty of water and sunscreen! Towels are great to have on hand as well.
Do I need to bring a surfboard?
You do not need to bring any boards with you. We provide the boards! The surfboards we use are the perfect beginner surfboards. They are soft tops that are safe and easy to use and guarantee that you will catch plenty of waves.
What should I wear to my surf lesson?
Please wear a swimsuit that is secure and won’t slip off. You will be moving around a lot and you want to wear something that is comfortable and secure. If you want extra protection from the sun, you can wear a t-shirt or rash guard over your swimsuit.
What happens if the weather is bad on the day of my lesson?
Keeping our clients safe is our number one priority. We pay close attention to weather and swell forecast to ensure we are choosing conditions that are safe for surf lessons. If the weather is rainy, we are clear to continue with lessons, but if there is thunder or dangerous ocean conditions, we will cancel the lesson and do out best to rebook you for another time slot during your vacation. Weather can change in a moment’s notice so please be flexible!
